Individual patients undergoing curative or palliative surgery, or endoscopic removal of esophago-gastric cancers are included from the Finnish complete registries using diagnosis and surgery codes. The registry data of these patients are then combined to a meticulous patient records review by expert surgeons and nurses. Original diagnostic tissue samples from the biobanks and hospitals are scanned into an electronic form.
